One likely explanation for these features is that the craters were caused by collisions with interstellar objects, like asteroids. The impact melts the ice beneath the surface of Mars, and liquid flows, creating the \u201ctrenches\u201d you can see in the photo.  <\/p>\n\n<p>But don\u2019t think that the \u201cliquid\u201d is the same water we drink on Earth. It\u2019s CO\u2082 and not the H\u2082O we know! So whatever you do, there\u2019s no chance of getting orange juice out of Mars. Why?<br\/><br\/>   <\/p>\n\n<p>Because it contains frozen CO\u2082.
