The sky on October 28th felt quieter this year. A day when Greece usually looks back \u2014 to the courage of \u201cNo\u201d and the heroes who stood against darkness \u2014 carried a deeper melancholy. Only a few days earlier, on October 21st, 2025, Dionysis Savvopoulos passed away. Nionios, as everyone lovingly called him \u2014 a man who didn\u2019t just sing about Greece; he interpreted it. <\/p>\n\n

And perhaps there could be no more fitting moment to remember him. Because Savvopoulos\u2019 art \u2014 much like the spirit of October 28th \u2014 always spoke about that delicate balance between resistance and light, between darkness and hope. <\/p>\n\n

Even in his absence, it\u2019s as if we can still hear him whispering verses from Ode to Karaiskakis:<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe screen is sinking, the crowd is swaying,images pour out all at once,where are you going, brave one, handsome as legend,swimming straight into death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the slopes of Velouchi,you stand tall and look at us,and from the antennas of a wounded land,your voice is heard again:\u2018Children, rise up, let\u2019s take to the streets,let\u2019s shatter fear and silence\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
