Tom\u00f3 su nombre del c\u00famulo abierto de las Pl\u00e9yades y pertenece al Observatorio Nacional de Jap\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Su nombre fue elegido a trav\u00e9s de un concurso p\u00fablico en 1991, y vio la primera luz, es decir, realiz\u00f3 las primeras observaciones, en enero de 1999. En septiembre del mismo a\u00f1o, la princesa Sayako de Jap\u00f3n visit\u00f3 el telescopio. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aqu\u00ed es importante mencionar que los astr\u00f3nomos utilizan c\u00e1maras especiales para realizar observaciones que registran lo que ve el telescopio, ya que no pueden ver con el ojo desnudo. Para la visita de la princesa, se fabric\u00f3 un ocular especial para que pudiera ver directamente a trav\u00e9s del telescopio, algo que los astr\u00f3nomos aprovecharon durante algunas noches antes de reemplazarlo con equipo cient\u00edfico para observaciones. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Tiene uno de los espejos m\u00e1s grandes del mundo, lo que permite la observaci\u00f3n de objetos del cielo profundo, como c\u00famulos de galaxias, galaxias distantes e incluso los objetos m\u00e1s tenues en nuestra propia galaxia y en nuestro sistema solar.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El espejo era una construcci\u00f3n pesada y tard\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 3.5 a\u00f1os en ser construido con controles en cada paso, ya que incluso el m\u00e1s m\u00ednimo defecto causar\u00eda problemas en las observaciones. Un telescopio no solo requiere el espejo para observar, sino tambi\u00e9n la base, el software y varios otros instrumentos utilizados en la observaci\u00f3n. Empresas japonesas como Sony, Fujitsu, Canon y otras ayudaron a lograr este objetivo. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dado que es un proyecto grande, a lo largo de los a\u00f1os hasta hoy ha habido varios accidentes, ya sea con trabajadores que trabajaban all\u00ed o con instrumentos. El incidente m\u00e1s reciente ocurri\u00f3 en septiembre de 2023, cuando una parte de un sensor del telescopio cay\u00f3 sobre el espejo principal, desde entonces ha estado en proceso de reparaci\u00f3n, con informes sobre su estado cada mes. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Algunos de los descubrimientos que nos ha proporcionado son: <\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ha descubierto los objetos m\u00e1s distantes de nuestro sistema solar, como el planetoide Farfarout, que se encuentra cuatro veces m\u00e1s lejos del Sol que Plut\u00f3n y es uno de los objetos m\u00e1s lejanos con \u00f3rbita alrededor de nuestra estrella. Observaciones posteriores, realizadas con otros telescopios, confirmaron su \u00f3rbita. muchas otras investigaciones se han basado en sus observaciones en la comunidad astron\u00f3mica para galaxias, agujeros negros, la red c\u00f3smica, la b\u00fasqueda de zonas habitables en otros
