Se encuentran a unos 100 km al oeste de Marruecos. Hist\u00f3ricamente fueron bautizadas por Plinio en honor a los perros salvajes (cannes) que viv\u00edan all\u00ed y parece ser que fueron habitadas por los antiguos griegos.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"408\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7003\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-01.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-01-300x272.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-01-221x200.jpg 221w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Localizaci\u00f3n de las Islas Canarias en el mapa<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Su buena situaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica combinada con su clima seco fue suficiente para atraer a los cient\u00edficos y, en especial, a los astr\u00f3nomos. Ahora cuentan con 37 observatorios en las altas cumbres de sus monta\u00f1as. En este n\u00famero y en los pr\u00f3ximos le mostraremos algunas de ellas.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7005\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-02.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-02-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni-mag.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/telescopes-02-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Los telescopios vistos desde las cumbres de La Palma<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NOT &#8211; Telescopio \u00f3ptico n\u00f3rdico<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El proyecto de construir un Telescopio del Norte de Europa fue propuesto por primera vez en 1980 por los profesores Bengt Str\u00f6mgren y Anders Reiz, que obtuvieron financiaci\u00f3n de la Fundaci\u00f3n Carlsberg para un estudio de viabilidad de un telescopio de 2,5 metros. La financiaci\u00f3n de las actividades iniciales del proyecto, como el emplazamiento y el dise\u00f1o, corri\u00f3 a cargo del Consejo Sueco y Dan\u00e9s de Investigaci\u00f3n en Ciencias Naturales. As\u00ed, en enero de 1984 se cre\u00f3 la Northern European Optical Telescope Science Association (NOTSA) con financiaci\u00f3n de cuatro Consejos Europeos (Dinamarca, Finlandia, Noruega y Suecia).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La construcci\u00f3n comenz\u00f3 en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Tras varias dificultades t\u00e9cnicas y financieras, el telescopio empez\u00f3 a funcionar oficialmente en 1989 y las observaciones regulares comenzaron en 1990. Hugo Schwarz se encarg\u00f3 de equipar a\u00fan mejor el telescopio en los a\u00f1os siguientes, debido a su excelente posici\u00f3n y a las observaciones que ofrec\u00eda a la ciencia. As\u00ed, se equip\u00f3 con un conjunto de modernos instrumentos \u00f3pticos e infrarrojos. Es el mayor telescopio \u00f3ptico de apertura \u00fanica del mundo.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El telescopio tard\u00f3 siete a\u00f1os en construirse y cost\u00f3 130 millones de euros. La instalaci\u00f3n fue dif\u00edcil debido a las condiciones meteorol\u00f3gicas y al transporte de los equipos a un lugar tan remoto.
